A rainbow light appears in the Denny's parking lot. As it fades, they can see that it is indeed the Denny's.

Eurydice gives a sinister cackle and put the pin away in their pocket, reading their hard-light ax and looking around for Maiden.

Maiden appears in a blink. "Hello?"

"Hi!" They sound cheerful. Eurydice is a 5'5 skull-headed wolf with black fur. Their ears are on the larger and fluffier end of things. They have short, stubby horns. They have kinda huge 4 fingered paws for hands that seem really soft but also potentially very clumsy? Digitigrade legs with pawed feet. They are wearing a slightly torn sweatshirt over a white t-shirt and pajama pants. No shoes! Who needs em? They have a large, fluffy tail. Both of their eyes are black with glowing red pupils. They wield an ax with a hard-light head.

"Hello. How are you fine day?" Maiden asks.

"We're pretty good! Fight time, right?" Eurydice asks.

"Indeed.” Maiden summons a GIANT plant whip. "Ready?"

"Oooooo... Cool!!!" Eurydice smiles and charges at her with the ax, giving a hefty swing down at the arm holding the whip.

Maiden tries to dodge behind them as she attempts to whip the vines around their neck.

Maiden manages to dodge but misses with the whip as they roll forward to recover from missing the swing. Eurydice quickly gets up and whips around to look at her, taking a few steps back. They BARK at her.

"Ooooh? Does the puppy have a bark? Well... let's see if they have a bite, shall we?” Maiden swings her whip again trying to tie up their legs together.

Eurydice grins and barks once again, attempting to jump over the whip and swing the ax at her again.

Maiden tries to dodge and if not, at least let it hit something not important as she attempts to tie them up anywhere on their body with her whip.

The ax hits her shoulder but the whip manages to wrap around their torso, making them yelp.

Maiden screams a bit at the ax's impact but manages to keep the vines together around them as she picks them off the ground about 20ft, looking up at them with a grin.

Eurydice yanks the ax out of her shoulder on the way up, keeping a tight grip on it. They bark and woof at her from above.

"Is the poor puppy going to wimp for mother? Well, mother is long gone and this puppy needs to grow into a dog. For you are 20ft off the ground and bones can break or heads can bust. So... what is this puppy going to do?"

Eurydice snickers and then cackles, attempting to cut the whip off from around them. "Betrayal is the breaking or violation of a presumptive contract, trust, or confidence that produces moral and psychological conflict within a relationship amongst individuals, between organizations or between individuals and organizations. Often betrayal is the act of supporting a rival group, or it is a complete break from previously decided upon or presumed norms by one party from the others. Someone who betrays others is commonly called a traitor or betrayer. Betrayal is also a commonly used literary element, also used in other fiction like films and TV series, and is often associated with or used as a plot twist."

"Philosophers Judith Shklar and Peter Johnson, authors of The Ambiguities of Betrayal and Frames of Deceit respectively, contend that while no clear definition of betrayal is available, betrayal is more effectively understood through literature.[1]

Theoretical and practical needs

Jackson explains why a clear definition is needed:

Betrayal is both a "people" problem and a philosopher's problem. Philosophers should be able to clarify the concept of betrayal, compare and contrast it with other moral concepts, and critically assess betrayal situations. At the practical level people should be able to make honest sense of betrayal and also to temper its consequences: to handle it, not be assaulted by it. What we need is a conceptually clear account of betrayal that differentiates between genuine and merely perceived betrayal, and which also provides systematic guidance for the assessment of alleged betrayal in real life.

Ben-Yehuda's 2001 work ("Betrayals and Treason Violations of Trust and Loyalty" Westview Press) framed all forms of betrayals and treason under a unifying analytical framework using loyalty, trust and moral boundaries as explanatory tools."

They succeed in cutting the whip off as they began to fall.

"This is not betrayal,” Maiden says.

"This is a snake shedding its skin.”

"But for I have always been like this... for I will always... still be a snake."

Eurydice hits the ground, shielding their face with their arms, soooo... Ouch. But they quickly get to their feet, hunching over a bit and holding the ax with now.. kinda gross arms. Pieces of bone sticking out of exposed muscles, fur having fallen away. Bones are a bit exposed. They snarl, seeming pissed, and swing at Maiden's side with the force of a speeding car.

Maiden moves her body to the side as it hits her not with the full impact but she still bleeds, screaming a bit at the pain. She jumps back and sends a giant thorn in their direction and another grows another behind them and launches it as well, unknown to them.

Eurydice taps the pin in their pocket. "Behind Maiden, Heimdall!" Their voice sounds kinda growly.

The rainbow light zaps them up and back down relatively close to where they tried to go. "I'm more for distance travel not fine maneuvering. I did my best." Says Heimdall.

Maiden spins in a circle with her vine whip.

Eurydice swings down with their ax in a way where it'd cleave right between Maiden's neck and shoulder. They might hit each other at the same time!

It hits skin before they go flying, across the pavement, when they get hit by the whip

"Now I think that's enough playtime puppy, now... sit and stay.” Maiden launches a giant thorn at their stomach before snapping as she disappears

Eurydice hits the pavement with a heavy thud and go still once impaled by the thorn, going wide-eyed. They look at where Maiden once was before going limp, the glowing pupils disappearing.

Death appears in a cloud of black smoke in front of them and taps them with the end of his scythe. "Are you alive still?"

Orpheus's left eye flickers between having a glowing pupil and not before settling on having one. He looks toward Death with an apathetic expression. "This fucking sucks."

"I can only assume so.” Death flicks his hand and the thorn ejects from Orpheus and flies several feet as his wounds heal.

He gets up and looks Death up and down. "You look kind of crusty but thanks for the help."

“Well fuck you too, bitch.” Death crosses his arms and pouts.

Orpheus picks up the dropped ax and turns off the blade. "Eurydice should not be allowed to make decisions. What the hell."

“Agreed, they got you quite stuck.” Death says.

"...I might invest in a flamethrower."

“Might I suggest a machine gun as well?” Orpheus says.

"...Hmmm…. Flamethrower machine gun."

"Good idea, also you didn't hear this from me but the voice box is a little wacky. Anyways," Death disappears in a cloud of black smoke.

"A...." Orpheus sighs. "Heimdall, can I go back to Harmonia's house?"

"Absolutely." The rainbow light surrounds them again and they disappear.
