April 18, 2022

Blossom is woken up by the warm sunlight beaming in through her curtains and the singing of the morning doves.

She wipes her eyes, yawning. "Mmm….”

Mm, there it is, the sound of the neighbor a few blocks over mowing their lawn. How peaceful...

Blossom pauses. "Wait... what?" She gets up and goes to the window to see the sky.

It's a nice, light blue. Not a cloud in the sky!

"What. What the fuck. LUCY??!?!" She yells, running into the Nave.

Blossom would end up... in the living room of her childhood home.

Blossom pauses. "W..what?" She’s shaking slightly as she looks around.

It's a nice, warm day. There's freezepops on the coffee table. The TV's tuned in to some saturday morning cartoons.

She walks down the hall to where her parents bedroom should be.

It's exactly as it normally would be on a summer day. Her parents aren't there, though.

"This... this isn’t real..." She looks for her phone.

A phone? She doesn't have one. She's too young to have one of those.

"L-Lucy? Lizzie?" She looks around, confused. She looks down at herself to see what she’s wearing.

She's wearing kiddie pajamas, something she'd wear in maybe 2009 when she just woke up on a summer morning.

Blossom seems confused. Why was she panicking again? Mom and dad are at work. Everythings fine. She walks over and sits on the couch, watching cartoons

There's a knock at the door.

Blossom gets up and goes to the window, peaking out to see who was there.

It's her best friend, Elizabeth Hanson!

"Hi Liz!!!" Blossom smiles. "Sorry, I just woke up-"

"Hi Bloss!! Wanna come out and play? The ice cream truck should be coming by soon!!!"

Blossom nods. "Yeah! Lemme get dressed really quick. Wanna come inside?"

"Sure!" Elizabeth opens the door, walking inside and sitting on the couch.

Blossom runs to her room and changes into a tee shirt and shorts before returning to the living room and taking Elizabeth's hand.

Liz giggles, getting up and following Blossom.

Blossom runs outside, looking for the ice cream truck. "Do you have money?"

"I got five bucks! I'm riiiich!!!" Liz laughs as the ice cream truck turns down the road, playing that all-too-familiar melody.

Blossom laughs and pulls a couple dollars out of her own pocket. "Whatcha gonna get?"

"Hmmmm I'm gonna get one bubble gum ice cream," Liz grins as the ice cream truck begins to slow down.

"Ooo yes! I'm getting an ice cream sandwich." Blossom grins back and waits for the truck to stop.

It stops in front of them, and the man inside takes their order. His face is... blurry. His general appearance is, too. But it doesn't bother Blossom or Elizabeth.

"An ice cream sandwich please!" Blossom extends her money to him.

He takes the cash and gives Blossom the ice cream sandwich and Liz the bubble gum ice cream, soon driving away.

"Hehehe yesss," Liz grins, taking a bite of her ice cream

Blossom giggles and pokes Elizabeth.

Liz giggles and pokes Blossom back.

"What do ya wanna do now!" Blossom asks.

"Hmmmm... I dunno! Wanna play hide and seek?" Liz says.

"Sure!"

"Ok... you wanna hide or do I?" Liz asks.

"You hide first!" Bloss says.

"Hehehe yessss!” Elizabeth makes a mad dash and yells, "Start counting!!"

"OKAY!!" Blossom closes her eyes and starts counting!

Liz has hid.

Blossom starts looking around, giggling.

The air is nice and warm with a cool summer breeze. The occasional crow cawing, the occasional car going by with its music a bit loud. No cars go down Blossom's street though. Very rarely they do. It's a quiet neighborhood.

Blossom hums as she looks for her, checking the usual hiding spots.

Not there, not there...

She keeps looking.

She'd eventually hear some giggling.

"Elizabeth!" Blossom heads towards the giggling.

Elizabeth is hiding behind a bush in the neighbor's yard! Parts of the yard are... blurry... but Blossom doesn't mind.

"You got me!! Hehe," Liz giggles.

Blossom giggles and extends her hand. "I did! Wanna eat?"

"Sure!" She grabs Blossom's hand and gets up, grass on her knees.

Blossom giggles and takes her back home. "What should we eat? Should I make pizza?"

"Pizzaaa!!!" Liz grins, following Blossom closely

Blossom finds a frozen pizza in the freezer and prepares it, preheating the oven.

Elizabeth sits down at the kitchen counter, smiling.

"So how's school!" Blossom asks.

"It's good! Ms B says if we get enough tickets this week we'll have a pizza party on Friday! Also summer vacation starts soon and I'm excited hehe"

"Ooo that’s cool! Me too!! I’m so excited to be rid of Henry.” Blossom says, making a face and sticking out her tongue. "He always makes fun of my hats and wigs,"

"Blehhh he sounds gross!" Liz says.

"He is!!"

"Boys are gross," Liz makes a face.

"I agree!!" Blossom responds.

"I don’t think girls should have boyfriends. I think we should be able to have girlfriends, the world would be so much better!"

Blossoms eyes widen. "Really? But mom and dad say its bad-"

"Yeah..." Liz presses her thumbs together

"But I... I think that’s how it should be too... boys are gross.."

"Yeah exactly!!" Elizabeth says.

“I'm glad we agree!” Blossom exclaims.

"Hehehe me too!! When's the pizza gonna be done?" Elizabeth tilts her head.

“Hm…. in like 20 minutes!” Blossom says before putting it in the oven.

"Yessss!”

Blossom grins. “Did you see the new episode of Kim Possible?”

"I did!! You think I'd miss it?"

“Just wanted to check! What did you think?” Blossom asks.

"It was soooo good!! I liked the part when the bad guy got caught and pretended to be good and then escaped because they left the door unlocked.” Elizabeth responds.

“Same!!”

"Hehehehehe!”

Later that day

---

Blossoms waiting for her family to come home, watching TV.

The lights begin to flicker.

Blossom looks around. “Mom?”

Something appears on the coffee table.

Blossom goes to look at it.

It's a photo in a mahogany frame. It's of Blossom and another girl, taller than her with black hair in a blue dress.

She tilts her head, confused at who this was and why she looked familiar.

The sun outside has set, and it's... snowing. The street lights illuminate the snow.

“Snow?” Blossom rubs her eyes to see if she's imagining it.

It's snowing.

Wait! Maybe it was gonna be a snow day! She runs to her parents' rooms to try and find them.

The room is dark yet bright, the light from the street coming in through the windows. There's... something on the bed. A black circle. Darkness. It makes Blossom start to hyperventilate. She tries to move out of the room, panicking.

The way back to the living room is also blacked out with a black rectangle in her vision. Words are spoken into her head.

Are you real?

Don't you want to go in there?

Where are your parents?

Blossom crumbles to the ground, holding her head. “M-mom! Mommy help!”

The black rectangle begins to shift and move into a tall figure. It's still dark, no discernible features. Some spots are on its face, brighter than the rest of its body.

It picks Blossom up and begins to cradle her in its arms.

"Everything will be okay," it says in the voices of Elizabeth, Isabella, Jillian, and Lucille. All at once.

Blossom clings to it. “I-I’m scared I’m scared-“

"You are safe here," it whispers in the same voices, "Only in small doses will it remain comforting, little flower.. I am sorry, but you must go now..."

The room changes again. It's Blossom's childhood bedroom. The figure is still holding her, but sets her down. Her door is open, but instead of the normal outside, it appears to be... a bright blue sky.

"I... I have to leave? Are you sure?" Blossom wipes her eyes of tears.

"You may return whenever you wish. Just draw this symbol."

A piece of paper appears, with 過去 on it.

“Okay,,” Blossom gets up, taking the paper gently. “Thank you…” She heads out the door.
