A knock at the door is heard as Luna goes to answer it.
"Hello?" She opens the door.
"Hey, uh, mind if I come in? Kinda need some help..." It’s Otto.
"Oh hey Otto, sure." She holds the door open for them before walking in herself.
Otto walks in and looks at Luna. "So like, you guys are used with dealing with weird paranormal-ish shit I'd assume? Considering that like, 3/4ths of you aren't human-"
"I mean my big thing is working with various Worlds, and honestly most of them have paranormal adjacent things. Either walking talking animals, or a bunch of Gods, or a walking eyeball demon. So yeah I'm pretty used to it." Luna explains to Otto hoping he would recognize her experience.
"That... Made like no sense to me but whatever. Listen, I and technically most of the outpost need some help, uh..." He sighs. "Clementine and Ludwig are missing. We have no clue where they went and we scoured all over the forest where they tend to get shit but they're just GONE." Otto says. "That's a huge problem for us cuz Clementine tends to handle the security around the base and Lud gets a ton of stuff for us and we're in a bit of a 'dry season'? It's complicated."
"Right, I see. I was wondering how you guys got ingredients during winter anyway. So you need help finding Clem and Lud? I'm down. Do you have any idea where either of them could've gone, since you mentioned paranormal stuff."
"According to Devon, they left the outpost 2 nights ago. They don't leave for that long, and even if they were killed by SOMETHING, there would've been a body, right? At least something from them..." He starts to pace around a bit panicked.
"Hm. Okay, think back to that night. Did anything weird happen at the Outpost? Something out of place or whatever. Assuming this is all paranormal, then the logical best place to start is at home, then work from there." Luna closes her eyes and waits for Otto's response.
"Uhhh... There was an explosion, I remember overhearing Clem say they were just testing a new security model, and I overheard Lud asking if they wanted to go get stuff."
"An explosion and a security model? Sounds like y'all rigged explosives or something. Did you sense anything else during the explosion? Feel something, see something."
"Feel something, see something, uh... Not really. At least from me. I was like, half asleep."
"Hm. Maybe we should go investigate the Outpost ourselves. Like y'all seem like really chill people, so I doubt you guys would set up like a bomb or similar to deter thieves." Luna opens her eyes finally.
"You don't know Clem well... Nor the type of people that try to break in. It's wild, hah."
"Hm. Okay, well while you were searching the forest, did you come across anything strange? Something that doesn't belong."
"Uhh, we found a couple of mud footsteps, but they stopped in the middle of a clearing. Grass there felt weirdly synthetic in a way?"
"Synthetic grass and footsteps that end randomly. Sounds fishy to me. Would you be willing to show me where it was if you remember?" Luna asks with a serious look in her eyes.
"Yeah, sure. I can take you there right now if you wanna."
"Sure, just lemme do something real quick."
"Aight, aight. I'll wait outside." He walks out.
She stands up and clicks an app on her phone. A bright light engulfs Luna as she returns to her usual demonic cat form. Afterwards, she snaps her fingers as a winter jacket and jeans appear equipped to her. Then her trusty Marked Broadsword appears on her side before heading outside.
They head to the forest together. "Hey, uh, thanks for wanting to help and shit, everyone's pretty worried right now." Otto says.
"Of course. It wouldn't be the first time I've put myself in danger this week to help someone." Luna has a soft smile on her face as she follows.
"I mean, it's not often that someone just disappears, at least in the outpost. I'm just worried that-" He hits a weird concrete thing protruding from the ground. "OW! What the fuck..." He looks around. "Uhhh, wait, this is the area. We got here a bit early...? This... wasn't here before though."
"What the fuck is that thing? Completely out of place compared to the rest of nature though." With her flashlight in hand, Luna looks around the area to inspect the odd concrete structure in front of her.
The front of the structure opens up, the inside looks like an elevator.
"Huh. It's like a weird elevator in the middle of the forest. Maybe... oh fuck it, it's an adventure." She steps inside the elevator without much fear.
"Hey, wait up!-" He steps inside as well.
