Loud alarms begin going off all over the building.
"NIX DISTURBANCE DETECTED. REFER TO PROTOCOL 1. ANTICIPATE EVERY CONCEIVABLE OUTCOME, PROCEED WITH ALL BACKUP PROCEDURES, SECURE THE IDEAL OF NIX DISTURBANCES, AND OBSERVE ALL FACTORS AND REACTIONS."
This message repeats over, and over, and over. It seems like it's not gonna stop for a while.
"Nix disturbance?" Spider asks.
"I've got no idea how to describe it." Kalius replies.
"Well, aren't you helpful?" Spider snarks.
"Aren't I?"
"If you explain false positives to me, then yes you are"
"I shouldn't exist. Simple as that."
"So you keep saying, but please elaborate"
"I just shouldn't. I usually get killed by now, but the Impurity kept me alive."
"You mentioned that you're from a different Veil, so they've brought other versions of you over then?"
"Technically I am? All of Catacombis is. The only reason we're here is because of a VDM of 6 and 1. I'm talking about other timelines, though. Usually I'm killed off some way or another."
"Hm, so what happened the first time? With this 'VDM 6 and 1'"
"Too many things went wrong. The Dreamwalker Helpline AI, Samantha? She was an actual person. Pretty sure she ended up like, killing some guy named Isaac Martin or whatever. Ociela killed her, though. Ociela killed a lot of people, including Smores. She was in this anarchist gang or something. It's a little blurry."
"Must of been weird, having two versions of everyone around"
Kalius scoffs. "You get used to it."
"So what happened to them then? Cause I haven't seen any doppelgangers wandering around"
"There was no version of Catacombis in this Veil before the merge. The only reason Smores is around is because this Veil made a new version of him. No clue how to explain it aside from that." Kalius says, "I mean. Unless you count Corpsewood."
Spider chuckles, "I'll bite, what's Corpsewood?"
"So, you know the Pie Writes ending? Like that except a manor in Summerville, Georgia. And without the furries. Basically, after the manor there burned down, Tornot found some books relating to some fucked up religious bullshit. She and some other guy started an organization funded by Intellicorp, getting resources from them. Proceeded to start Catacombis and Tornot created Varians, genetically altering herself into one. Corpsewood was a place here as well, so."
"Genetically altering herself? Sounds painful," Spider leans against the wall, just sorta fiddling with her hands, "While we're talking about all this, why is Catacombis so interested in Dromen?"
"Connections to Lucifer and The Impurity."
"Go on.."
"Those doors that go to their Hell also go to Domains, implying a connection. The whole thing with the Impurity as well, which is also linked back to that Hell."
"The impurity kinda makes sense? But the doors seem like a bit of a stretch"
"The door to Heresy in Lucille's domain says otherwise."
"So it does," Spider mumbles, "So that raises the question of what Lucy wants with Heresy"
"That's not how it works. They just randomly happen. There's also a door to Wormwood's domain, as well as Sondar's, and a few places on earth in her domain."
"Speaking of these doors, what exactly are they? Cause they've been popping up all over the place lately, And if you say that they're doors I'm gonna punch you"
"They're something used by people who can't teleport to get around quicker. Few people know about them, but they just sort of show up places. There's also staircases that work similarly, but they're even less common."
"Bullshit, cause if that's the case then how did we end up in someone's memory?"
"There's a Dromen called Past whose domain forms around someone's memories, which it can access once the person is in their domain."
"Now I don't think that's it, cause when Claire touched the door, a sun symbol was carved into it and one of these...figures or whatever they were was really familiar."
"Nope, that's it."
"So if it wasn't my memory then why was I affected?"
"Probably because the figure was someone you know as well"
